Agenda Item: Discuss the Arts Council's first action item, "Creativity Lives Here". Page 3 of 24 2 Discussion focused on clarifying whether submissions should feature local Trophy Club imagery or arts and culture experiences from other communities. A consensus emerged to separate local, resident- submitted content that reflects the identity of Trophy Club from a broader repository of inspirational ideas drawn from other places. To support this, Art@TrophyClub.org was created for art-related submissions. A SharePoint site will be created to drop submitted photos into for review by the Arts Council. 4. Agenda Item: Discuss prioritized initiative number one: public art and historical markers. Discussion focused on using a survey to identify preferred locations and types of art installations in Trophy Club, distinguishing where residents live from where they want to see art, particularly in parks. The top priority is public art, beginning with a potential permanent Noble Winds installation made from recycled wind turbine materials, alongside interest in temporary, rotating art displays. Survey questions will be simplified to gauge overall interest first, with results guiding promotion plans and decisions on locations and the possibility of multiple installations. Action Items • Tamara to update surveys and webpage. • Tamara to create SharePoint site. Next Meeting will be held on January 29, 2026, at 6:00 PM. Residents are expressing strong opposition to the proposed art/installation project, emphasizing that it: 1.Misaligns with community needs – They prioritize basic infrastructure (roads, trash pickup, playgrounds, safety) over aesthetic projects. 2.Raises cost concerns – Many repeatedly ask about price, ongoing maintenance, and taxpayer burden. 3.Questions functionality and suitability – Complaints about the heat of metal, durability, and aesthetics suggest residents want practical, long-lasting, and contextually appropriate solutions. 4.Reflects aesthetic disagreement – Multiple comments note the art is ugly, tacky, or inconsistent with the town’s suburban character. 5.Concerns over process and transparency – Some point out lack of cost details, vendor info, and opportunities for meaningful input. Out of 63 people 35 didn’t like the Art Installation concept. That is .0025% of the population. BACKGROUND/SUMMARY: Initiative One: Public Art & Historical Markers Focus: Preservation and Maintenance Purpose: Develop clear guidelines for maintaining existing public art installations and identifying historically significant sites throughout Trophy Club. Impact: Promote long-term stewardship of the town’s artistic and historical assets, ensuring public art and heritage markers remain preserved, celebrated, and accessible for future generations. This agenda item will include a discussion with the Arts Council regarding a potential public art installation. The project may serve either to commemorate a historically significant site or to create an eye-catching piece of artwork within one of Trophy Club’s parks. The goal is to develop an installation that both generates enthusiasm for the Arts Council’s initiatives and celebrates the heritage and identity of Trophy Club. During the November 19th regular meeting, the Arts Council directed the Arts Facilitator to develop a formal process for selecting both permanent and temporary public art installations. During the December 11th regular meeting, the Arts Council directed the Arts Facilitator to proceed with only the permanent installation. A survey was also posted on the Arts Council website to gather community input. A timeline for the project's initial launch was presented as well. These items will be discussed with the Arts Council this evening. BOARD REVIEW/CITIZEN FEEDBACK: N/A FISCAL IMPACT: Federal and state-level funding sources typically require a matching grant.
