Meeting Minutes

Vote: All in favor — Motion passed unanimously. (4-0). 3 members absent
1. Agenda Item: Discuss the Arts Council's first action item, "Creativity Lives Here".
The Arts Council discussed its first action item, Creativity Lives Here, which launched in the second week
of January and has received one photo submission with a caption to date. The council will continue
promoting the initiative during newsletter off -cycles and agreed to revisit a potential sunset date later,
rather than setting one now. Website accessibility was identified as a concern, as the link was difficult to
find on both mobile and desktop devices, and submissions currently require emailing arts@trophyclub.org
rather than using an online form. To increase awareness, the council discussed promoting the Arts Council
at Parks and Recreation events such as Extravaganza, the July 4th event, and Harvest Fest, with action
1
items including creating a QR code, developing an informational handout, and securing a standard white
tent. Possible visual enhancements, such as banners or flags, would depend on available funding, with
marketing expenses potentially requiring budget adjustments and council approval, while donated items
may be used.
2. Agenda Items: Discuss prioritized initiative number one: public art and historical markers.
Discussed prioritized initiative number one, public art and historical markers, focusing heavily on mixed
and largely negative feedback from the public art survey. Many respondents expressed concern that
money was being spent frivolously, often misunderstanding that funding would come from HOT tax
revenues rather than general taxes, indicating a strong need for community education and clearer survey
design. The wayfinding initiative was discussed as a future effort, with design conversations anticipated
later in the year and implementation delayed until the next fiscal year, and there was strong interest in
visually linking historical markers with wayfinding for a cohesive approach. The council also emphasized
the need for deeper research into Trophy Club's history, including early settlers such as the Medlin family,
and identified action items to explore hiring a historian or partnering with a university, to support a
unified and historically grounded public art and marker strategy.
Action Items
® Namara will create a QR code linking to the Arts Council website.
® Tamara will research whether the Arts Council can purchase a tent sign for use at events throughout the
year.

® Tamara will provide the final, approved sign design.
Next Meeting will be held on March 26, 2026.
