PRO 2003-02TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS
PROCLAMATION NO. 2003-02
MAY 1, 2003 AS DAY OF PRAYER IN TROPHY CLUB
WHEREAS, the National Day of Prayer is a tradition and important occasion first proclaimed
by the Continental Congress in 1775, and Americans since the days of our founders have shared our
dependence on God, faith and prayer while insisting on religious freedom; and
WHEREAS, our nation's leaders, from our first president, George Washington, to our current
president, George W. Bush, have called upon Americans to individually and corporately pray for and
seek God's divine blessing upon our nation in times of peace and in times of conflict; and
WHEREAS, the 2003 theme for the National Day of Prayer is "Righteousness Exalts a
Nation" based on Proverbs 14:34 and given that world events and our great need at this time make this
acritical year for prayer, it is essential that we as a nation seek the divine favor of God through prayer
as we examine ourselves and turn from our unrighteous ways so that may honor God, build stronger
communities of character and have great hope for the future; and
WHEREAS, prayer reminds us that God is our refuge and strength and the power of prayer
provides hope, light and promise; and
WHEREAS, it is eminently fitting and proper that we in Trophy Club observe a day when all
of us in our communities may acknowledge our blessings and express gratitude for them while
recognizing our need for the strengthening of spiritual and moral values in our land:
