RESOLUTION NO. 88-15
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB,
TEXAS DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSED
SOUTHERN BYPASS TO STATE HIGHWAY 114 LOCATED
NEAR THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB IN DENTON
COUNTY, TEXAS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Texas State Department of Highways and
Public Transportation (the "Department") has planned certain
improvements to State Highway 114 in an area around the Town of
Trophy Club, Texas (the "Town") located in Denton County,
Texas; and
WHEREAS, these improvements call for the construction of
a bypass for State Highway 114 (the "114 bypass") in and around
the City of Roanoke, Texas, located west of the Town of Trophy
Club; and
WHEREAS, the Department has proposed several routes for
the 114 bypass, three of which will move the highway north of
its current location and through or immediately adjacent to the
Town of Trophy Club and the City of. Roanoke (hereinafter
referred to as the "northern routes"), and another which will
move the highway to the south of its present location and
through and around the City of Roanoke (hereinafter referred to
as the "southern route"); and
WHEREAS, construction of the northern routes will have
grievously detrimental effects on the Town of Trophy Club and
its citizens:
1. Eighty (80) residential lots improved with streets
and utilities located within the Town in an approved
subdivision will be taken;
2. As a result of the taking of these lots and other
property within the Town, the Town will lose approximately
$8,000,000 in tax revenues over the next 20 years;
3. Construction of the most easterly of the northern
routes will result in a relocation of the highway to within 55
feet of existing residential homes owned primarily by young,
first-time home buyers;
4. Construction of any of the northern routes will
cause:
a. increased noise pollution;
b. increased air pollution;

C. visual blight;
d. a reduction in the value of homes adjacent to the
Highway in excess of thirty percent (30%); and
WHEREAS, the land which will be taken if one of the
northern routes is selected is land which has been zoned by the
Town for residential purposes since October, 1987; and
WHEREAS, a selection of the southern route will not
adversely affect any residential area; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council hereby finds that passage of
this resolution is in the best interests of the Town of Trophy
Club and the health, safety and welfare of its citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all of the above premises are found to
be true and correct and are incorporated into the body of this
ordinance as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the Town Council of the Town of Trophy
Club hereby expresses and declares its unanimous support for
the State Highway 114 southern bypass as presented by the State
Department of Highways and Public Transportation at a public
meeting held in the City of Roanoke on November 10, 1988.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from
and after its date of passage.

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS
DECLARING AUGUST 21, 1988 AS LEN, KATHY LEVINE
AND FAMILY DAY IN THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB.
WHEREAS, throughout the years the Levine family has lived in Trophy
Club, they have graciously and devotedly served the people
of this Town; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the Town of Trophy Club deems it a sincere
honor that the Levine family chose to live in this Town
and the citizens hereof have indeed been enriched by their
lives; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the Town of Trophy Club wish the Levine
family best wishes in their new community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB:
Section 1. That August 21, 1988 shall be and is hereby
declared to be Len, Kathy Levine and Family Day, in
recognition of their many gifts and contributions to
this community, its people and its government.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect
immediately upon its passage.
