A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS EXEMPTING CERTAIN
POLICE VEHICLES FROM THE REQUIREMENT THAT
TOWN VEHICLES HAVE PRINTED ON EACH SIDE THE
TOWN'S NAME; AUTHORIZING THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT TO ACQUIRE EXEMPT LICENSE PLATES
FOR CERTAIN POLICE VEHICLES AND TO OBTAIN AN
ALIAS REGISTRATION FOR SUCH VEHICLES;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 721.004 of the Texas Transportation Code (the "Code") requires
that the office having control of a motor vehicle or piece of heavy equipment owned by the
Town of Trophy Club, Texas must have printed on each side of the vehicle or equipment the
name of the Town, followed by the title of the department or office having custody of the
vehicle or equipment; and
WHEREAS, Section 721.005(a) of the Code authorizes the Town Council to exempt
from the requirements of Section 721.004 an automobile when used to perform an official duty
by the police department; and
WHEREAS, Section 502.206 of the Code authorizes the Texas Department of
Transportation, on the receipt of a written request by the executive administrator of a law
enforcement agency, to issue exempt license plates for a vehicle and to register the vehicle under
an alias for the law enforcement agency's use in covert criminal investigations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. Exemption of police automobiles from inscription requirement. The Town
Council does hereby exempt those police automobiles designated by the Chief of Police of the
Town and used for official police duties from the requirement of Section 721.004 of the Texas
Transportation Code that motor vehicles and heavy equipment of the Town have printed on each
side of the vehicle or equipment the name of the Town, followed by the title of the department
or office having custody of the vehicle or equipment.
Section 2. Authorization to seek alias registration for certain police vehicles. The
Town Council hereby requests that the Texas Department of Transportation issue exempt,
regular license plates under an alias registration for those unmarked criminal investigation
vehicles identified by the Chief of Police of the Town. The Chief of Police is hereby
authorized to make application to the Department of Transportation for such license plates. The
Town Council hereby affirms that the vehicles identified by the Chief of Police shall be operated
by the Police Department in the performance of its official duties.

Section 3. Effective date. This Resolution shall be effective from and after its date of
adoption.
