Minutes Animal Shelter 12/04/2014MINUTES FROM REGULAR SESSION ANIMAL SHELTER BOARD FOR THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB LOCATION: 100 MUNICIPAL DRIVE, TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS December 4, 2014 at 6:30 P.M. Public Service Conference Room The Animal Shelter Board for the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, met in a Regular Session on December 4, 2014. The meeting was held within the boundaries of the Town and was open to the public. STATE OF TEXAS § COUNTY OF DENTON AND TARRANT § BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Susan Edstrom, Chairman Bruce Fusselman DVM, Veterinarian Melissa Burns, Town Resident Kelly Akin -ACO, Secretary BOARD MEMBERSABSENT: Tony Simmons -Municipal Official, Vice Chair Danielle Stewart, Animal Welfare Representative STAFF AND GUEST(S) PRESENT: Patrick Arata, Police Chief, Staff Liaison Mayor Nick Sanders CALL TO ORDER AND ANNOUNCE A QUORUM Chairman Edstrom called the meeting to order and announced a quorum at 6:44 p.m. CITIZEN PRESENTATIONS Citizens are allowed three (3) minutes to address the Board regarding an item over which the Board has policy or oversight authority as provided by Texas law, the ethics order, or other policy order. No citizens addressed the Commission. REGULAR SESSION 1. Discuss and take appropriate action regarding a future animal shelter facility for recommendation to Council. Chairman Edstrom discussed the conditions of the existing facility, shelter and storage areas providing a presentation for a future state-of-the-art facility including an enclosed yard with artificial turf, climate controlled indoor housing with drainage and washer and dryer inclusive. Mayor Sanders discussed the Council's position on the present shelter and future shelter plans and Chief Arata suggested a facility separate from the police department as well as utilizing volunteers. Dr. Fusselman inquired about other possible locations to place the shelter including an area near the dog park. Chairman Edstrom would like the shelter in close proximity to the police department. Chief Arata would like the addition of volunteers added to Chairman Edstrom's presentation to Council. 2. Discuss and take appropriate action regarding a proposed ordinance change for recommendation to Council. The Board briefly discussed the current Animal Ordinance as it pertains to 'fowl' and what recommendations in regards to amending and/or modifying the existing ordinance might be brought to Council at a future meeting. ADJOURN Board Member, Bruce Fusselman made a motion to adjourn at 7:45 PM; motion seconded by Board Member, Melissa Burns. Motion approved by a vote of 4-0. The meeti a journe at 7:51 PM.
