PROCLAMATION NO. 2019-02
A PROCLAMATION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY
CLUB, TEXAS, SUPPORTING FEBRUARY 2019 AS KINDNESS
AWARENESS MONTH IN TROPHY CLUB; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the incidence of random acts of violence in the United States has reached
epidemic levels; and
WHEREAS, every year in the United States, there are 758 random acts of violence for
every 100,000 persons and 29 victimizations per 1,000 students in school; and
WHEREAS, February 9th through February 15th has been declared international
"Random Acts of Kindness Week" and our NISD Trophy Club schools have been challenged to
perform 5,000 Random Acts of Kindness as part of our "Campaign 4 Kindness"; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Trophy Club recognizes the value of simple acts of kindness
performed without prompting or reason and how these acts can positively impact the performer,
the recipient and onlooker of the good deed; and
WHEREAS, by providing "Random Acts of Kindness" and reaching out to one another,
regardless of social or economic status, education, gender, origin, religious belief, age, lifestyle
or abilities, we extend an opportunity for grace, dignity and acceptance that might not otherwise
be offered; and
WHEREAS, to initiate a student-led, community-wide Campaign 4 Kindness via activities
and events promoting kindness, to include a Town sponsored "Fun Run 4 Kindness", through a
coordinated partnership between Northwest Independent School District, Beck Elementary
School, Lakeview Elementary School, Medlin Middle School, Byron Nelson High School, the
Town of Trophy Club, and Hope Kindness Community that is strategically designed to create a
culture of kindness. Through this Campaign, students, their families and our residents will be
called to action to change their community and the world.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MAYOR C. NICK SANDERS, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM:
FEBRUARY 2019 AS KINDNESS AWARENESS MONTH
Section 1. Encouraging residents to participate in the Campaign 4 Kindness and
practice random acts of kindness, in the spirit of compassion, kindness, and goodwill toward all
persons.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas,
this 8th day of January 2019.
