Economic Development Corporation 4B (EDC 4B)4 of 15 Monday, November 3, 2014 FY13-14 ED & Marketing Coordinator Job Description Position: Economic Development (ED) & Marketing Coordinator Reports To: Assistant Town Manager & Public Information Officer/Marketing Manager Non-Supervisory Non-Exempt Job Summary: The ED & Marketing Coordinator will assist Management Staff with various duties related to Economic Development, as well as Communications/Marketing efforts for the Town. Supports Town businesses and business opportunities by helping implement economic development programs and identifying marketing opportunities for business retention, promotion, and expansion; requires regular contact with area chambers of commerce and similar groups; and assists with budget preparation and other projects. Performs a variety of professional-level marketing functions in support of economic development within the Town including maintaining sections of the website, implementing programs, and helping manage the business assistance program. Provides marketing and communications support including planning, development, coordination and implementation of marketing, advertising, public relations and agency special events. Develops, recommends, and manages marketing budget for assigned projects. Assists in the planning and implementation of internal and external communications strategies and media relations. Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field – Master’s Degree Preferred • Two years of responsible experience in economic development, tourism, marketing, public relations, or a closely related field • Ability to use a variety of computer software; including the Microsoft Office Suite, Content management Systems and design software • Principles and practices of marketing, promotion, program development and economic development • Journalistic-style writing and communication including spelling, grammar and punctuation • Familiarity with social media • Ability to use good judgment in respecting confidentiality; identify and respond to sensitive community and organizational issues, concerns, and needs of prospects • Ability to collect and compile data • Strong oral, written, creative and mathematical skills Economic Development Corporation 4B (EDC 4B)5 of 15 Monday, November 3, 2014 FY13-14 ED & Marketing Coordinator • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees, Town officials, and the general public • Valid Texas Motor Vehicle Class C Operator's License Major Duties and Responsibilities: Job duties and responsibilities are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. • Implement economic development programs to support business growth and retention; measure effectiveness of advertising, promotion, and other marketing activities. • Monitor, evaluate, and recommend ways to update and amend the Town website to best market the community for investment, business retention, and business expansion (including social media development). • Prepare studies for the EDC 4B Board and special projects by researching new and existing programs including their economic impact; participate in special projects; recommend plans of action on programs and projects; and perform economic analysis. • Interact with area chambers of commerce and similar groups to promote Trophy Club business. • Research and prepare information such as business and strategic plans, budget documents, analytical and statistical reports, and demographic summaries; develop and maintain departmental databases such as those for existing businesses and commercial real estate within the Town. • Assists in major communication projects, including development of a Communication Plan, Marketing Plan, Social Media Plan and overall Branding Strategy. • Develops marketing and communication collateral including brochures, flyers, inserts, newsletters, magazines, calendars, blog posts, press releases, RFP’s, etc. • Assists in economic development initiatives and trade show display development. • Attends events, meetings, luncheons, etc as necessary. • Responds to citizen requests for information by mail, phone, or in person. • Manage multiple projects, prioritize and organize work assignments, meet deadlines, work well under pressure. • Occasionally work evenings and weekends to attend events. • Performs other tasks as directed. Goal-setting can be used as an effective tool for making progress and ensuring that employees & supervisors have a clear awareness of what they (both employees & supervisors) must do to achieve or successfully complete an objective/task. Objective: something that one's efforts or actions are intended to attain or accomplish; purpose; goal; target GOALS/OBJECTIVES 1. Develop, support and manage Economic Development strategic plan and initiatives, inlcuding: Business Spotlight program, Shop Local program Business Meet & Greet program. 2. Work closely with community organizations, departments heads and staff on projects, for example, working with TC MUD 1 regarding drought situation. 3. Enhance the Business section of the Town website. 4. Provide at least 6 blog articles per month and 2 Facebook/Twitter posts per day on average. 5. Manage the Around The Town monthly newsletter and weekly E-News Blast emails. 6. Develop positive relationships with Chamber, local businesses, civic organizations, surrounding municipalities, etc. 7. Assist in the development of Economic Development marketing materials, including the completion of the Economic Development brochure. 8. The meeting was held within the boundaries of the Town and was open to the public. Recognition of Jim Hicks for 16 years of service to the EDC 4B Board. Assistant Town Manager Stephen Seidel recognized Jim Hicks for his 16 years of volunteerism and dedication to the community through his service as a member of the EDC 4B Board. 2. Welcome and introductions for incoming EDC 4B Directors. New Directors Eric Jensen and Gerald Rapp were welcomed and provided a brief introduction of themselves to the board. 3. Election of Officers: - President - Vice President - Treasurer/Secretary Motion by Director Sean Weaver to refer the Election of Officers to the next meeting and nominate Director Greg Wilson as interim President. Motion seconded by Director Dave Brod. Motion passed unanimously. 4. Discuss and take appropriate action regarding the ICSC Texas Conference and Deal Making event, November 12-14, 2014 in Dallas.
