FY13-14 ED & Marketing Coordinator
Job Description
Position: Economic Development (ED) & Marketing Coordinator
Reports To: Assistant Town Manager & Public Information Officer/Marketing Manager
Non-Supervisory
Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The ED & Marketing Coordinator will assist Management Staff with various duties
related to Economic Development, as well as Communications/Marketing efforts for the
Town.
Supports Town businesses and business opportunities by helping implement economic
development programs and identifying marketing opportunities for business retention,
promotion, and expansion; requires regular contact with area chambers of commerce
and similar groups; and assists with budget preparation and other projects. Performs a
variety of professional-level marketing functions in support of economic development
within the Town including maintaining sections of the website, implementing programs,
and helping manage the business assistance program.
Provides marketing and communications support including planning, development,
coordination and implementation of marketing, advertising, public relations and agency
special events. Develops, recommends, and manages marketing budget for assigned
projects. Assists in the planning and implementation of internal and external
communications strategies and media relations.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration,
Public Administration or a related field – Master’s Degree Preferred
• Two years of responsible experience in economic development, tourism,
marketing, public relations, or a closely related field
• Ability to use a variety of computer software; including the Microsoft Office Suite,
Content management Systems and design software
• Principles and practices of marketing, promotion, program development and
economic development
• Journalistic-style writing and communication including spelling, grammar and
punctuation
• Familiarity with social media
• Ability to use good judgment in respecting confidentiality; identify and respond to
sensitive community and organizational issues, concerns, and needs of
prospects
• Ability to collect and compile data
• Strong oral, written, creative and mathematical skills

FY13-14 ED & Marketing Coordinator
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow
employees, Town officials, and the general public
• Valid Texas Motor Vehicle Class C Operator's License
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Job duties and responsibilities are not intended to
reflect all duties performed within the job.
• Implement economic development programs to support business growth and
retention; measure effectiveness of advertising, promotion, and other marketing
activities.
• Monitor, evaluate, and recommend ways to update and amend the Town website
to best market the community for investment, business retention, and business
expansion (including social media development).
• Prepare studies for the EDC 4B Board and special projects by researching new
and existing programs including their economic impact; participate in special
projects; recommend plans of action on programs and projects; and perform
economic analysis.
• Interact with area chambers of commerce and similar groups to promote Trophy
Club business.
• Research and prepare information such as business and strategic plans, budget
documents, analytical and statistical reports, and demographic summaries;
develop and maintain departmental databases such as those for existing
businesses and commercial real estate within the Town.
• Assists in major communication projects, including development of a
Communication Plan, Marketing Plan, Social Media Plan and overall Branding
Strategy.
• Develops marketing and communication collateral including brochures, flyers,
inserts, newsletters, magazines, calendars, blog posts, press releases, RFP’s,
etc.
• Assists in economic development initiatives and trade show display development.
• Attends events, meetings, luncheons, etc as necessary.
• Responds to citizen requests for information by mail, phone, or in person.
• Manage multiple projects, prioritize and organize work assignments, meet
deadlines, work well under pressure.
• Occasionally work evenings and weekends to attend events.
• Performs other tasks as directed.

The Economic Development Corporation 4B of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, met in Regular
Session on September 8, 2014. The meeting was held within the boundaries of the Town and
was open to the public.

President Hicks called the meeting to order and announced a quorum at 7:04 p.m.
CITIZEN PRESENTATIONS
REGULAR SESSION
1. Recognition of September Business Spotlight Partner: Hampton Inn & Suites Trophy
Club
The EDC 4B Board reviewed the September Business Spotlight partner, Trophy Club Hampton Inn
& Suites. Representatives were not available to present to the EDC 4B Board.
2. Interview EDC 4B Board Applicants and take appropriate action regarding a
recommendation to the Town Council to appoint three (3) Director positions.

Director Rebecca Sherman provided an overview of the EDC 4B responsibilities and duties. The
Board interviewed applicant Gerald (Gerry) Rapp and asked various questions.
Motion by Director Dean Murray to keep current EDC 4B Board members (Jim Hicks, Sean Weaver
and Dave Brod) in place. Motion seconded by Director Rebecca Shuman. Motion passed
unanimously (5-1) with Director Sean Weaver abstaining.

3. Discuss and take appropriate action regarding the FY15 Budget.
Assistant Town Manager Stephen Seidel updated the Board regarding the Town Council decision to
not fund 50% of the Economic Development & Marketing Coordinator position. A draft budget was
provided to the Board that included the fully-funded position for review, with funding for the position
effective October 1, 2014. Staff discussed the various aspects of the organization that would be
impacted if the position was not funded or partially funded, and the Board asked questions.
Motion by Director Dean Murray to approve the EDC 4B FY15 budget as presented, with the
understanding that the job description and scope of the ED & Marketing Coordinator position will be
discussed at the October meeting. Motion seconded by Director Randall Conn. Motion passed 5-1
with Director Sean Weaver voting against.
4. Discuss and take appropriate action regarding the August 2014 Minutes.
Staff answered questions from the Board regarding the August 2014 Minutes. Motion by Director
Gregory Wilson to adopt the Minutes as presented. Motion seconded by Director Sean Weaver.
Motion passed unanimously.
5. Discuss and take appropriate action regarding the July 2014 Financials.
Staff provided an overview of the July 2014 Financials. Motion by Director Randall Conn to adopt the
July 2014 Financials as presented. Motion seconded by Director Gregory Wilson. Motion passed
unanimously.

Director Rebecca Shuman motioned to adjourn at 8:55 p.m. Motion seconded by Director Sean
Weaver. Motion passed unanimously.
