PROCLAMATION NO. 2001-01
A PROCLAMATION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, URGING THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE TO
CONSIDER THE NEGATIVE EFFECT THAT THE CLOSURE OF T.W.
KING ROAD / KIRKWOOD BOULEVARD WILL HAVE ON PUBLIC
SAFETY AND THE IMMEDIATE AND IRREPARABLE INJURY THAT
THE CLOSURE WILL HAVE UPON THE CITIZENS OF TROPHY CLUB
AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC; REQUESTING THAT SOUTHLAKE
CONSIDER THE CONCERNS OF THE TOWN AND THE NEGATIVE
IMPACT THAT THE CLOSURE OF THAT ROAD WILL HAVE UPON
THE PUBLIC BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE DECEMBER 1St
CLOSURE OF T.W. KING ROAD / KIRKWOOD BOULEVARD;
REQUESTING THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE TO PREVENT THE
CLOSURE OF T.W. KING ROAD / KIRKWOOD BOULEVARD; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the duty of the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club,
Texas, to represent the citizens of the Town and to take all action that it deems necessary
to protect the health, safety, and welfare of its residents-,
WHEREAS, T.W. King Road / Kirkwood Boulevard is used by the residents of
the Town of Trophy Chub to access eastbound State Highway 114 and is an important
access route for emergency vehicles responding to police, fire, and medical incidents;
WHEREAS, the closure of T.W. King Road / Kirkwood Boulevard will
negatively impact the ingress and egress of both residential traffic and emergency
vehicles attempting to enter and exit the Town of Trophy Club;
WHEREAS, with the current state of construction in and around State 1--lighway
114, the closure of T.W. King / Kirkwood Boulevard will only further compound existing
traffic congestion problems and will negatively impact response times of emergency
vehicles responding to calls for assistance;
WHEREAS, any action which negatively impacts the ingress and egress of
emergency vehicles endangers the public safety and causes immediate and irreparable
injury to the Town, its residents, and the general public; and
WHEREAS, due to the negative impact that closure of T.W. King Road /
Kirkwood Boulevard will have upon the Town of Trophy Club and the general public, the
Town Council of the Town of Trophy Chub requests that the City of Southlake take all
appropriate action to prevent the closure of T.W. King Road / Kirkwood Boulevard.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the Town Council requests the City of Southlake to consider
the negative impact that the closure of T.W. King Road / Kirkwood Blvd. will have upon
public safety and upon the citizens of Trophy Club and surrounding communities;
Section 2. That the Town Council requests that the City of Southlake allow
T.W. King Road / Kirkwood Blvd. to remain open so as to provide access to eastbound
State Highway 114; and
Section 3. That this proclamation shall take effect from and after its date of
passage, in accordance with law; and it is so proclaimed.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club,
Texas this 19`x' day of November, 2001.
