PRO 2006-03TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS PROCLAMATION NO. 2006-03 MAY 4,2006 AS DAY OF PRAYER IN TROPHY CLUB WHEREAS, In 1775, the Continental Congress first designated a National Day of Prayer, an action reaffirmed in 1952 when the United States Congress designated the first Thursday in May for its annual observance; and WHEREAS, The history of our nation is indelibly marked with the role that prayer has played in the lives of individuals and the nation; and WHEREAS, Prayer allows us an opportunity to reflect and to seek guidance, strength, comfort and inspiration from Almighty God; and WHEREAS, In these trying times, when the world is so unsettled and when so many brave military men and women from the State of Texas and the United States are far from home, making great sacrifices for those abroad and those here at home, prayer becomes all the more meaningful and important; and WHEREAS, the 2006 theme for the 55'h National Day of Prayer is "America, Honor God" reflecting the words in 1 Samuel 2:30: "Those who honor Me, I will honor"; and WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for our citizens to gather together on this day to acknowledge our many blessings, express gratitude and recognize the continuing need for strong positive values to guide our communities, state and nation; NOW, THEREFORE, I Nick Sanders, in conjunction with the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas by the Power vested in me as Mayor of Trophy Club, hereby proclaim Thursday, May 4, 2006, as a DAY OF PRAYER in Trophy Club to coincide with the NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER and that this proclamation shall take effect from and after its date of passage, in accordance with law; and it is so proclaimed.
