RESOLUTION NO. R 87-01
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS
DECLARING THE TOWN COUNCIL'S DISAPPROVAL OF THE PRO-
POSED CHANGE IN THE DENTON/TARRANT COUNTY BOUN-
DARY LINE; ELECTING IF THE BOUNDARY LINE IS MOVED SO
AS TO SPLIT THE TOWN, TO PARTICIPATE AND BE LOCATED IN
THE DENTON COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Town of Trophy Club, Texas (the "Town") was incor-
porated on January 29, 1985 in accordance with Articles 966 and 1189, Texas
Revised Civil Statutes Annotated (Vernon); and
WHEREAS, the boundaries of the Town as incorporated lie almost
entirely within Denton County, with approximately -0- acres being located in
Tarrant County; and
WHEREAS, the Counties of Denton and Tarrant are currently considering
redrawing the boundary line between the two Counties; and
WHEREAS, the Tarrant County Commissioners' Court has already
accepted and approved a surveyor's report which establishes a new northeast
corner of Tarrant County approximately 2,200 feet north of the County's
current northeast corner, which point, if connected to the current northwest
corner of the County, would result in a substantial part of the Town of Trophy
Club being located in Tarrant County; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council recognizes that confusion and hardship to
the citizens of the Town would likely occur if the Town is substantially split
between two counties, including the appraisal of property by separate appraisal
districts, the filing of documents affecting real property, voter registration,
appeals from the Town Municipal Court and law enforcement within the Town;
and
WHEREAS, if the Town is in fact split between Denton and Tarrant
Counties, the Town Council desires that the Town be made a part of and
located entirely within the Denton County Appraisal District as authorized by
Tex. Tax Code Ann. §6.02 (Vernon), as amended; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council hereby finds that passage of this
Resolution is in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the
citizens of the Town.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS
Section 1. That all of the above premises are found to be true and
correct and are incorporated into the body of this Resolution as if copied in
their entirety.
Section 2. That the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club hereby
finds and declares that the proposed redrawing of the Denton/Tarrant County
boundary line so as to substantially split the Town between the two Counties
is not in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of
the Town and that the Town Council opposes the said redrawing.
Section 3. That, in the event the Denton/Tarrant County boundary line
is redrawn so as to substantially split the Town between the two Counties, the
Town desires to be a part of and located entirely within the Denton County
Appraisal District, as authorized by Tex. Tax Code Ann. §6.02 (Vernon).
Section 4. That the Town Secretary shall have delivered to the Denton
and Tarrant County Commissioners' Court a true and correct copy of this
Resolution.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its date
of passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy
Club, Texas this the 23 day of February , 1987.
