RESOLUTION NO. 61891-1
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS REQUESTING AND
PETITIONING THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS
AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO CONSTRUCT A
TURNING LANE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF TEXAS STATE
HIGHWAY 114 IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE TROPHY
CLUB PLANTATION APARTMENTS; PROVIDING THAT THE
TOWN MAYOR SHALL DELIVER A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE CHAIRMAN, DIRECTORS AND
EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF THE SAID DEPARTMENT;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Trophy Club Plantation Apartments (the
"Apartments") are located along the north side of State Highway 114
(the "Highway") as indicated by the map attached hereto as Exhibit
"A" and within the Town of Trophy Club, Texas (the "Town"), at
which location the speed limit is 55 miles per hour; and
WHEREAS, an entrance to the Apartments is located contiguous
to the north side of the Highway as indicated on the map; and
WHEREAS, in order to utilize the said entrance for traffic
travelling in an easterly direction on the Highway, motorists must
slow down and stop on the Highway in order to accomplish the turn
into the Apartments, there being no turning lane on the Highway for
entry into the Apartments; and
WHEREAS, this process of slowing down and stopping has
resulted in this area being extremely hazardous and dangerous for
motorists, such that in one recent, tragic event, a person was
killed in an automobile collision; and
WHEREAS, the hazardous nature of this area could be alleviated
by the construction of a turning lane on the Highway for eastbound
traffic.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN
OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the above and foregoing preamble is true and
correct and is incorporated herein in its entirety.
Section 2. That the Town Council does hereby request and
petition the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation
to construct a turning lane, and/or to take any other action
necessary, to permit traffic traveling in an eastbound direction on
State Highway 114 to make a safe turn into the Trophy Club
Plantation Apartments.

Section 3. That the Mayor shall deliver or cause to be
delivered a signed copy of this Resolution to the Chairman,
Directors and executive officers of the Department. A signed copy
shall also be delivered by the Mayor to the Engineer for the State
highway district in which the Town is located.
Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and
after its date of passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy
Club, Texas this the 18th day of June, 1991.
