RESOLUTION NO. 9 5 - 2 3
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS SUPPORTING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A TEEN COURT PROGRAM TO
WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TROPHY CLUB
MUNICIPAL COURT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, article 45.55 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure provides that a
municipal court judge may defer proceedings against a defendant who is under the age of 18 or
enrolled full time in an accredited secondary school in a program leading toward a high school
diploma if, among other things, the defendant enters a plea of no contest or guilty and requests
to attend a teen court program; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas desires to support
the creation of a teen court program for the Trophy Club Municipal Court.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. The Town Council does hereby support the establishment of a teen court
program, on a one (1) year trial basis, to work in conjunction with the Trophy Club Municipal
Court. The Municipal Court Clerk, together with the Municipal Judge and alternate Municipal
Judge of the Town and other necessary personnel, are encouraged to work toward the
development and implementation of a teen court program.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its date of passage.
