RES 1996-13TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS .RESOLUTION NO. 96-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF THE METROPORT CITIES PARTNERSHIP WITH REGARD TO THE PROMOTION OF THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS TO AND EXPANSION OF STATE HIGHWAY 114; APPROVING THE EXPENDITURE OF $7,500.00 OF THE TOWN'S CONTINGENCY FUNDS FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE PARTNERSHIP'S STATE HIGHWAY 114 TASK FORCE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Metroport Cities Partnership is a coalition of public and private organizations in and around northeast Tarrant County and southwest Denton County which provides a forum for communication between its members and promotes the economic well being of the region; and WHEREAS, in 1988 the Town of Trophy Club, Texas adopted a resolution supporting and joining the Partnership and is currently a member of the Partnership; and WHEREAS, State Highway 114 is a roadway of regional significance that provides a major travel corridor through the Metroport region and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex; and WHEREAS, the Metroport region and the area in and around the Metroport has in recent years experienced significant growth in development, including the development of the Texas Motor Speedway at SH 114 and I11 -35W, which growth is anticipated to continue and to contribute to the already existing high levels of traffic on State Highway 114; and WHEREAS, in order to assist in addressing the significant problems with State Highway 114 which are facing the Metroport region, the Partnership is developing certain promotional material (including video and written materials) regarding the current state of the Highway and the possible solutions to the regional transportation problems and is encouraging a regional response to the Board of Directors of the Texas Department of Transportation ("TexDOT") at its June 27, 1996 meeting in Austin, Texas; and WHEREAS, as a member of the Partnership, the Town desires to participate in the cost of developing the promotional materials and in encouraging citizens of the Town and of the Metroport region to attend the TexDOT Board meeting, and the Town Council does hereby find that the financial support of those efforts accomplishes a public purpose. -1- DOC #: 369199 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS: Section 1. The Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas supports the efforts of the Metroport Cities Partnership in responding to the Texas Department of Transportation relative to the construction of improvements to State Highway 114 to alleviate traffic congestion through the Metroport region. Toward that end, the Town Council does hereby direct that the Town pay to the Partnership the sum of $7,500.00 from its contingency fund for the development of promotional materials regarding Highway 114 to be presented to TexDOT and other entities, as appropriate, and to encourage the attendance by citizens of the Town and of the Metroport area to attend the June 27, 1996 meeting of the TexDOT Board of Directors to address issues concerning State Highway 114. Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its date of adoption.
