RES 1997-02TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 97 _ o 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS SUPPORTING AND APPROVING THE OPERATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT TO THE RACEWAY TRAFFIC COMMITTEE CONCERNING THE TEXAS INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Town of Trophy Club, Texas (the "Town") is endeavoring to institute a traffic plan to accommodate approximately 190,000 people in 60,000 motor vehicles which will travel to the Texas International Raceway for the first major event at the Raceway scheduled in April, 1997; and WHEREAS, the Town agrees that what has occurred at other NASCAR tracks in the United States, where traffic can be found backed up for ten to twenty miles, could easily occur from the Raceway east to Dallas on State Highway 114 and south to the downtown Fort Worth mixmaster on Interstate 35W; and WHEREAS, a Raceway Traffic Committee has been formed to study the impact of the Raceway on traffic in the communities surrounding the Raceway, and the Operations Subcommittee of the Committee has prepared a report analyzing that impact and making certain recommendations with respect thereto; and WHEREAS, the Town agrees with the Raceway Traffic Committee's goal to professionally expedite the movement of traffic in the affected areas with consideration of the needs of both the Raceway patrons and the citizens in the surrounding communities not attending a Raceway event.. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS: Section 1. The Town Council supports the more than 35 members of the Raceway Traffic Committee who represent the Texas International Raceway, the Texas Department of Transportation, and the cities and counties located within the Raceway area. Section 2. The Town Council recognizes that the Raceway Traffic Committee's evaluations and recommendations were based entirely upon the entire North Texas transportation requirements, making it a regional plan and not the desire of a single entity. Section 3. The Town Council endorses the Raceway Traffic Committee's report and recommends its implementation; provided, however, that the Town reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the level of funding, if any, by the Town in the implementation of the report. -1- D®C #: 442008 Section 4.
