RESOLUTION NO. 2000-32
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, STRONGLY SUPPORTING THE
EFFORTS OF THE CITY OF DALLAS IN SEEKING A BID CITY
DESIGNATION CHANGE RELATING TO THE YEAR 2012
OLYMPICS; AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER OR HER
DESIGNEE TO TAKE ANY NECESSARY PROCEDURAL STEPS
TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE TOWN'S SUPPORT OF THIS
EFFORT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a deposit and letter of intent was submitted by the City of Dallas to the
United States Olympic Committee in furtherance of the desire to host the Games of the XXX
Olympiad in 2012 (the "Games"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Dallas has sought and obtained the support and cooperation
of other North Texas cities who, in the spirit of unity signified by the Olympic Games, desire
to join together in pursuit of a common goal of hosting the Games in 2012; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Trophy Club strongly supports the efforts of the City of
Dallas to lead the North Texas region in obtaining the 2012 Olympics, which will result in
benefits to the entire State.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club strongly supports the
efforts of the City of Dallas in seeking United States Olympic Committee acceptance of a bid
city designation change to the City of Dallas relating to the Games of the XXX Olympiad in
2012.
Section 2. The Town Manager or her designee is hereby authorized to participate in
any necessary procedural matters, including but not limited to, the processing of any
necessary documents to exhibit the Town of Trophy Club's support for this endeavor.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS, this 17°i day of October 2000.
