RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 05
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY
CLUB, TEXAS, REQUESTING LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY FOR THE
CREATION OF A MUNICIPAL COURT OF RECORD.
WHEREAS, Texas Government Code Chapter 30, "Municipal Courts of Record,"
Subchapter A. "General Law for Municipal Courts of Record" provides that the governing body of a
city which is listed in that subchapter may establish its municipal court as a municipal court of record
if the formation of a municipal court of record is necessary to provide a more efficient disposition of
cases arising in the Town; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a municipal court of record for Trophy Club is necessary
to provide a more efficient disposition of cases and to improve the operation of the Trophy Club
Municipal Court by reducing the number of appeals, increasing Court revenue, and reducing the
burden on the County Courts at Law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council determines that it is in the best interest of the citizens of
Trophy Club to establish a municipal court of record in the Town:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. All matters stated in the preamble are found to be true and correct and are
incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. The Town of Trophy Club respectfully requests the Texas Legislature to pass into law
the attached Bill that would authorize the Town to establish its Municipal Court as a court of record.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passing, and in accordance with
State law.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas, this

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the creation of a municipal court of record in the Town of Trophy Club, Tarrant and
Denton Counties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
Section 1. Chapter 30, Government Code, is amended by adding Subchapter VV to read
as follows:
SUBCHAPTER VV. TROPFIY CLUB
Sec. 30.01753. APPLICATION.
(a) Subchapter A applies to the Town of Trophv Club located in Tarrant and Denton
Counties.
(b) In this subchapter "county" means the county courts of law of Denton Countv that
have criminal appellate jurisdiction.
Section 2. This Act takes effect immediately upon its passage.
