RESOLUTION NO. 2002 - 33
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF TROPHY
CLUB, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE DENTON COUNTY TRANSPORTATION
AUTHORITY SERVICE PLAN AND ITS EFFORTS TO PROVIDE
TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES FOR OUR COUNTY; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Denton County Transportation Authority was authorized by the 77th
Texas Legislature, in House Bill 3323 authored by State Representative Burt Solomons and
sponsored by State Senator Jane Nelson; and;
WHEREAS, the Denton County Transportation Authority was created by Act of the
Commissioners Court in October 2002 to provide transportation options and services for the
County; and
WHEREAS, the deterioration of our air quality, increased congestion of the streets and
highways, increased commuting time, and traffic delays all effect our citizens' quality of life and
the economic development of our communities; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has a critical shortage of funds to
meet the future highway needs in Denton County, with some essential projects delayed perhaps
beyond 2010; and
WHEREAS, the Transportation Authority has proposed a Service Plan that offers
alternative solutions to traffic congestion by removing vehicles from our highways and
improving the quality of the air by reducing harmful emissions and providing alternatives for
access to jobs, universities and businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Service Plan has already been adopted by five of the largest cities in
Denton County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section LThat the recitals contained in the preamble of this Resolution are determined to be true
and correct and are hereby adopted as a part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The Town of Trophy Club does hereby endorse the Denton County Transportation
Authority Service Plan and its efforts to provide transportation alternatives for our County and
further calls upon the citizens to vote for "confirmation" of the Denton County Transportation
Authority on November 5, 2002 to continue its important work of developing transportation
options for Denton County which does not obligate the Town to any financial commitment.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall become effective from and after its date of passage in
accordance with law.
ASSED AND APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club, Texas,
