RESOLUTION NO. 2012-30
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2012·09
AUTHORIZING THE CREATION OF A CHARTER REVIEW
COMMISSION BY AMENDING SECTION 3 OF RESOLUTION 2012-09
TO DESIGNATE FEBRUARY 28, 2013 AS THE DATE UPON WHICH
THE TERM OF OFFICE OF "rHE COMMISSION WILL EXPIRE;
PROVIDING THAT THE REMAINDER OF RESOLUTION 2012-09
SHALL CONTINUE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Town is empowered under §51.001 of the Texas Local
Government Code to adopt a resolution that is for the good government of the Town;
WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission was formed to review the Town's
Home Rule Charter and to make recommendations for amendments; and
WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission has been working diligently since
June 25,2012 and has completed its review of the Town's Home Rule Charter but has
additional work to finalize before presenting recommended Charter amendments to the
Town Council and the residents; and
WHEREAS, Section 11.15 of the Town's Home Rule Charter provides that the
Commission shall consist of nine (9) qualified voters who shall serve for a six (6) month
period unless extended by Council; and
WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission will complete its work by February
28, 2013, which period will go beyond six (6) months from its first meeting, thus it is
necessary for the Council to extend the term of the Commission so that it may complete
its work.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF TROPHY CLUB, TEXAS:
Section 1. That Section 3 of Resolution No. 2012-09 is hereby amended to
read as follows:
Section 3. The members of the Commission shall serve at the pleasure
of the Town Council, and in accordance with the Town Charter, the
term of office of the Charter Review Commission shall expire on
February 28, 2013, unless Council takes action to extend the
Commission's term of office beyond that date.
Section 2. That all of the other terms an provisions of Resolution No. 2012-09
not in conflict with the terms of this Resolution shall continue in full force and effect.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall become effective from and after its date
of passage in accordance with law.
PASSED and APPROVED by the Town Council of the Town of Trophy Club,
Texas on this 10th day of December, 2012.
